cynthia blondelle

LA-based music supervisor

Born in the suburbs of Paris, Cynthia spent her childhood between France and Hong Kong where her mother is from. Growing up in two vastly different cultures gave her an expansive perspective of the world and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Music has always been a constant in her life: starting piano lessons at the age of 3 years old, then moving onto guitar in her teenage years before forming a pop rock band in high school. Despite a few exciting years in the spotlight playing on some renowned stages in Paris (La Boule Noire, Le Batofar, Le Trabendo), she knew the business side of music was her true calling.

She spent her college years interning in all aspects of the music business: radio station, concert promoters, fan magazine, labels, publishers. By her graduation year, she was offered a full time job in marketing at a major label in Paris. However, having grown up on American music, she decided to move to California instead all by herself with one suitcase, her guitar and big dreams.

After a six-month internship in San Francisco at a live music video production company, she moved to Los Angeles and obtained her certificate in music business at UCLA. That's where she first came across music supervision and immediately fell in love with the craft. She started her career in synchronization licensing in 2013 at Lip Sync Music pitching indie artists for synch placements for 3 years. After much success, notably in movie and TV shows trailers, she decided to pursue becoming a music supervisor.

She worked as a music coordinator on Maggie Phillips' team, one of the most esteemed independent film and TV music supervisors where she helped secure the licensing rights to and helped craft the perfect soundtracks for shows such as The Handmaid's Tale, Fargo, and Legion; and movies such as The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Creep 2 and Alex Strangelove.

Nonetheless she was eager to get back to the trailer world, the perfect cross section between her degree in advertising, her love for music and her love for film. In 2018, she started in the music department at Create Advertising where she moved up the ranks rapidly and is currently the music supervisor. She has worked on countless entertaining marketing campaigns for some of the most influential movies, series and video games of the time. Her work includes campaigns for The Smashing Machine, Scream 7, Tron: Ares, Sinners, Freakier Friday, Gladiator 2, Venom: The Last Dance, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (for which she was nominated for a Guild of Music Supervisors Award), The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Only Murders in the Building, Succession, Presumed Innocent, The Morning Show, to only name a few. She enjoys collaborating with her team and the wide variety of music she gets to work with.

An avid hobbyist, Cynthia has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and you will always find her taking some interesting classes in her free time. She is a dedicated student of the art of taiko drumming and a language learning enthusiast. She still plays the same guitar she moved to California with, writes songs for fun and enjoys getting out of her comfort zone.
